Camp Canopy is fortunate to have the support of many universities and colleges around Ohio. Every year we are able to offer scholarships to those campers who score highest on the end-of-week exam. This year we were able to offer $8250 in scholarships! That’s a new record that we couldn’t have reached without the generous support of The Ohio State University, Hocking College, Ohio University, Zane State College and the Northeast Ohio Forestry Association.
This year, it was a tough race for the top positions. So many of our campers studied hard and did very well on the exam. Twenty- eight campers scored a 90% or higher and after MULTIPLE tie-breakers, the top spots were claimed. Patrick Hodges took home a scholarship from the Northeast Ohio Forestry Association. Jim Moore and Makayla Lange received scholarships to The Ohio State University. Ben Carpenter and Talia Snively earned scholarships to Hocking College, while Soren Hottensmith took home a scholarship to Ohio University. Zane State scholarships went to Dallas Martin and Sam Gatrell. It’s important to note that Shannon Browning and Brant Helman were also in the top ten, and generously passed scholarships down to other campers as they weren’t able to use them.
Our Campers of the Week are campers who have really made an impact and who have gone above and beyond to help other students. This year Jim Moore and Talia Snively were chosen for that honor.
Congratulations to everyone and we hope to see you back at Camp Canopy 2020! Don’t forget to periodically check the website throughout the year. Coming soon – pictures from this year’s camp!
